Being ambidextrous at billiards comes in handy when you're facing off against an opponent. Most people can only shoot one way. A problem often arises when the ball stops in certain spots on the table. They have trouble reaching it without leaning or sitting on the edge of the pool table. Imagine being able to switch hands and shoot equally well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Grip the pool stick in the opposite hand from the one you usually use. If you're right handed, you should normally grip it in your right hand. Instead, switch it to the left hand.

  2. Step 2

Use your stronger hand to balance and guide the pool stick. If you're right handed, your right hand should be at the top of the cue stick.

  3. Step 3

Get a feel for holding it this way. It will feel strange to you, at least at first, because you're used to holding the cue stick the opposite way.

  4. Step 4

Practice hitting a ball around the billiards table. You'll probably find that you don't have as much power in your hit, because your weaker hand is the driving force behind the cue stick.

  5. Step 5

Become comfortable with shooting pool this way. Keep practicing until you get used to it. To be truly ambidextrous, you need to be able to shoot with either hand at any point.

  6. Step 6

Shoot as much as you want your regular way, using your dominant hand as the force behind the cue stick. When needed, switch hands to reach the ball and make the shot.
