These make great focal points as well as gifts for the mom to be. You can specialize them in almost any way you choose for a specific theme, color scheme or keeping them neutral.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Approximately 40 to 50 diapers
  • Ribbon (preferably two to three different colors)
  • Cardboard base (can be done out of an old box)
  • Wrapping paper to cover base
  • Tape
  • Inside stuffers (gifts)
  • Toppers
  1. Step 1

Cut out the base for your cake out of an old cardboard box bottom, to about 3 feet round.

  2. Step 2

Wrap the wrapping paper over the base and tape on the bottom the paper into place. Use a wrapping paper that goes with your theme, one that says baby or a solid color in your theme.

  3. Step 3

Roll the diapers individually and tie with the ribbon. Do not tie too tightly as it will cut into the diapers--you want them to be used by the mom to be. You can either use the decorations on the diapers as part of your theme or roll the themes of the diapers to be on the inside and just have white showing. Try to use alternate ribbon colors when tying the ribbons on the diapers.

  4. Step 4

Set your bulkiest inside stuffer in the middle of the base. Set the diapers around it standing up and making a circle around it. Once the circle is complete, use a large ribbon to tie it to keep it in place. You may use some of the smaller stuffers to help fill in gaps, such as bibs or washcloths.

  5. Step 5

Put another sturdy stuffer onto the first big one. Now set up the second row of diapers around the perimeter of this new piece and once the circle is complete, use the large ribbon to wrap around the diapers and tie to hold in place. Again, small stuffers can be used to fill in gaps.

  6. Step 6

Use nothing but diapers for the third tier. Set the diapers up first in the circle on top the middle sturdy stuffer and then fill in the middle of the circle with the additional diapers. Use the large ribbon to wrap around the diapers and tie to hold in place.

  7. Step 7

Place a main piece on top of the third tier as the decoration or main theme piece to be seen and use the ribbon to secure it in place. Other small accessories can be attached onto the diapers here and there such as pacifiers, rattles and small toys for decoration.
