Chuck Liddell, known as the "Iceman" by fans and commentators, is arguably the biggest star in the UFC universe. Liddell earned his ultimate fighting stripes by fighting with a tenacity and energy that called all of his years of martial arts training into near-perfect action.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Diversify your martial arts background so you can have a broad range of skills like Liddell, who has trained in Koei-Kan karate, wrestling (at a college level), kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Once you've reached a level of competence in a number of martial arts, find a good trainer like John Hackleman, Liddell's UFC trainer.

  2. Step 2

Prep for a fight around eight weeks before fight night since, as Liddell has found, an 8-week prep gives you enough time to get into shape but isn't past the point of burning out. Design your training so that week 8 is your peak week and you're training 6 days a week in grappling, striking, high intensity weight training and daily running to prepare for a fight like the Iceman does.

  3. Step 3

Use sequences of low kicks to keep your opponent off balance and to bait him into basing down as Liddell often does. Then, follow up your low kicks with high straight kicks or a roundhouse to the head to go for a strike that can potentially end the fight. During your low and high kick sequences make sure you keep moving but keep your hands up at all times.

  4. Step 4

Ground and pound your opponent Liddell style by shooting for a takedown or taking advantage of a wobbly opponent to get him on the ground and then using your height (Liddell is six-foot-two) to wail down on your opponent's face and head.

  5. Step 5

Throw punches as you back out of an onslaught from your opponent to try strike the advancing opponent and stop the attack at the same time. Liddell often manages to break up an opponent's attacking combo's in this way and then follows up his aggressive defense with devastating kicks or a series of three or four punches to the chin.

  6. Step 6

Finish off your UFC fight win with Liddell's signature spread-arm roar.
