Some in basketball refer to Steve Nash as the "human floor burn." This is because he spends a lot of time diving on the basketball floor for loose basketballs and the like. Despite being two-time league MVP, he plays the game of basketball as if his life depends on it. This is a skill that every player can identify with and use to make his game better.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Play through pain during a game. Steve Nash suffers spondylolisthesis, which is a loose vertebra in his spine. Because of this medical issue, Steve Nash cannot sit down for any length of time during a game. This is why you will see Steve laying down on the sidelines when he is not in the game. Despite this pain, he still fights and claws for every loose ball.

  2. Step 2

Dive on the court if there is a loose basketball in front of you. You will never see Steve Nash lazily go after the basketball. He attacks the basketball and plays the game with an undeniable zeal.

  3. Step 3

Outwork players who are bigger and stronger than you are. Steve Nash is one of the smallest players in the NBA, yet he won the league's Most Valuable Player award two years in a row. Remember, other players may be bigger and stronger than you are, but nothing can measure a player's desire.

  4. Step 4

Use your basketball intellect to outwit and outmaneuver other players. Basketball is a simple game when you get to its core. So use the simplicity of the game to your advantage. Study the tendencies of other players and use their habits against them. For instance, Steve Nash has an extensive video library on the opposing players and uses these videos to note any advantage he could get on the court.
