Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use humor to make your point. Bill Maher successfully mixes serious political topics with humor by using his humor to make a point. When you have an opinion, look for ways to be clever while staying true to your opinion.

  2. Step 2

Be ruthless. When you develop an opinion, be a strong proponent of the opinion without backing down. Bill Maher is extremely certain of his opinions.

  3. Step 3

Notice the absurdity of different opinions. Bill Maher often believes all opinions other than his own to be absurd. This does not mean you must be disrespectful to those who you disagree with, but you must be willing to believe their opinions simply do not make sense.

  4. Step 4

Talk to the other side. Even though Bill Maher strongly disagrees with many viewpoints, he speaks openly with holders of the differing viewpoint. Maher is not afraid to face the opposition, listen to what his opponents have to say and have an intelligent debate.

  5. Step 5

Develop your own political opinions. Bill Maher is often considered to be a liberal, but his opinions do not conform to any one political party or ideology. While he agrees with the Democratic party on many he issues, he disagrees with the party on issues such as gun control, the death penalty and social security privatization.

  6. Step 6

Take controversial political opinions. Bill Maher's opinions are often outside of what is considered to be the mainstream. Examples of this are his support for legalized drug use, prostitution and criticism of all religion.
