Christina Aguilera is one of the highest-paying career singers and songwriters in the music industry. She started young and has maintained popularity through the years by constantly reinventing herself, which will probably keep her in business for a long time to come. Follow these steps if you want to have a long career in the music industry like Christina Aguilera.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start young like Christina, who was on Star Search and the Mickey Mouse Club while she was a child. She also gained popularity with her "Genie in a Bottle" song when she was a young teen.

  2. Step 2

Make sure your family is behind you. Christina's mother helped her with her career from the start and was willing to relocate them to help boost it. Christina's grandmother was also the first to notice how great her music skill is.

  3. Step 3

Practice singing until you have a wide vocal range. Christina has been compared to singers like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, and she learned by listening to artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland. Challenge yourself with difficult songs with a lot of range instead of taking it easy with songs you know are easy to you.

  4. Step 4

Work towards winning awards. Christina Aguilera has won multiple awards, such as the Grammy and Latin Grammy, and aim for hit singles. She also writes many of her own songs so that they are sure to best suit her.

  5. Step 5

Reinvent yourself regularly. Christina started as a music pop princess, morphed into a raven-haired "dirty" girl, added some of her Latin roots and then into the retro-gone-modern look with blond curls and dark red lipstick. She also changed her music styles to go along with each fashion style.

  6. Step 6

Develop a thick skin towards critics. Many of her competitors in the music industry, especially at a young age, wouldn't talk to her or ostracized her because they were threatened by her talent. She had to learn to ignore these comments and work through them.
