Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Run constantly in various conditions to establish a solid cardio base that allows you to push yourself further with bodyweight training and weight training. Matthew McConaughey runs wherever he goes, whether it's the beaches of Santa Montica or the mountains and hills of Mexico where he hung out for a few months.
Step2
Go for distance rather than time, as McConaughey does, by running about as far as you can (while factoring in that you have to run back) and keeping in mind that your return run is psychologically easier than the first leg of the run.
Step3
Set a very challenging goal for the number of repetitions of an exercise that you will complete during a given workout session. In Matthew McConaughey's case, he often says that he will perform 200 pushups throughout a session, slowing down as much as necessary to get the super-set done and get his upper body ripped up.
Step4
Keep your workouts varied and treat yourself as a demanding trainer would treat you by throwing in random sets of crunches, pullups or pushup variations in the middle of other exercise sets or activities.
Step5
Be strict with your diet, opting for a high-protein and low-carb daily intake to fuel intense muscle growth as you restrict fat accumulation. Only with a strict and, more importantly, consistent diet can you get Matthew McConaughey's ripped look.
