Michelle Rodriguez doesn't do "fancy." From her clothes to her hair to her makeup, she tends to like everything on the simpler side. You will rarely see her anywhere (including the red carpet) with her hair in a complicated "up" do. If you favor the simple look her hair stylist Daniel Redleaf does, here's how you can get Michelle Rodriguez's hair on your own.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Matrix Vavoom Gold Heat Styling line
  • Curling Iron

Step1
Wash and condition your hair with the Matrix Vavoom Gold Heat styling line (see resources). Using this system is essential to get Michelle Rodriguez's hair because it's long and gets weighted down and limp. This line helps protect against heat damage to her hair subjected by curling irons and blow dryers.
Step2
Apply a volumizing product to your hair. This will further help you to prevent your hair from falling limply. Use the "Height of Glam" foam volumizer from the Matrix Vavoom line or any other type of mousse.
Step3
Blow-dry your hair using a round brush as you do. Part your hair in the middle, and starting at the roots, wrap your hair around the brush near the roots and blow-dry from beneath. Doing this will give your hair lift around the roots like Michelle's hair. Blow-dry the rest of your hair normally.
Step4
Use a curling iron. If you want to use a curling iron to get her loose curls, you'll have to start at the middle of the hair section you're curling and wrap it around the curling iron. Then, move on to the bottom of the same section of hair and do the same, because with that much length, not all the hair will fit around the barrel of the curling iron at once.
Step5
Loosen your curls with your fingers. Rake your fingers gently through your hair from crown to end to loosen the curls and blend them together.
Step6
Spray on the Vavoom "Size Me Up" finishing spritz. This finishing spritz has a strong enough hold to keep your curls in while remaining flexible, so that your hair has movement and bounce to it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always choose steam rollers if your hair is dry or damaged. Subjecting your hair to the intense heat of a curling iron will only damage your hair further. Use steam rollers to help prevent heat damage to your hair.
  • Make sure you have enough time. To get curls like Michelle's in long hair takes a decent amount of time (at least an hour from start to finish). If you don't have the time to complete her look, you should avoid it to keep your hair from looking messy and unfinished.
