If you are looking for a way to spice up a party and want to go with a theme, a treasure map theme is a creative and fun way to go.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tea bags
  • Parchment paper or any other type of paper
  • Lighter (preferably a candle lighter with the long handle)
  • Markers
  • Stickers, ribbon or stamps
  1. Step 1

The details of the invitations can be handwritten or computer-printed. Organize the details of the party, such as the date, time and location and if anything needs to be brought. When writing out the details, you can spice up the language, such as "Place of adventure", "Time of departure" or "Day to be commenced", to set the mood.

  2. Step 2

Draw a small map of how to get to the location to add to the theme. Mark the place with a large "X" with a skull or treasure chest box. Include small details, such as a compass on the side, and rename some stores with names that are funny but still recognizable. Use the markers to make dashed lines for the route and add drawn-in details.

  3. Step 3

In a large rectangular container, pour some water and dip the tea bags into it to discolor the water. Dip the invitation papers into it. Use the tea bags to smudge on extra color in specific spots.

  4. Step 4

Lay the paper out to dry on newspaper.
