How to Keep String Decorative Lights Untangled

Entertaining and decorating can be accentuated with string lights for almost any occasion, but they can be a nuisance if they are tangled. This is a great, simple solution to keep them untangled and to check for blown-out bulbs.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardboard cylinder or rectangle
  • Tape
  1. Step 1

    Use the cardboard cylinder from a roll of paper towels or Christmas wrapping paper. You can also use a cardboard sheet.

  2. Step 2

    Tape the plug end of your lights to one end of the cylinder.

  3. Step 3

    Gently wrap the lights around the cylinder towards the other end.

  4. Step 4

    Tape the other plug at the opposite end of the cardboard cylinder.

  5. Step 5

    Store until next year and they’ll be tangle free.

  6. Step 6

    They can be stored in clear plastic containers that roll under your bed for easy accessibility for your next party.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can plug them in while still on the roll to make sure they are working and replace any bulbs before unrolling them.
