Step 1
After all mesurments were taken and marble/granit was bought, remove old sink and cover old counter top with cut to size durock. 1/2 thick durock will be best. Place new sink into the old sink hole , draw pencil line along sink edge and remove sink, now when line is visible extend durock 1 inch past the pensile line, and if hole needs to be cut bigger do it now, and if hole is to big extend durock to the needed size of hole. Use 1 1/2 inch long nails, nail durock to old counter top, screws same length will work better.

Step 2
Now when everything is done place marble/granit to counter top and cut all pieces to size. Extend first row of stones along the edge of counter top approximately 1/2 inch, and cut to size pieces on the back. Cut 1 3/4 pieces witch will go on edge, and also 5-6 inch pieces for backslash, make sure stone around sink is 1 inch past pencil line.

Step 3
After everything is cut and prepared, mix thin set with water and using travel 1/4x1/4x1/4 apply thin set to nailed durock with even layer. Start laying stone from back corner toward front, until top of counter top is covered. After finishing top apply thin set to 1 3/4 pieces and place them on edge, to prevent sliding down use tape by attaching it to edge pieces and to the top pieces. Then apply thin set to 5-6 inch pieces and set them on the wall, mirror might to be removed. Let it dry ,set the sink and connect water fousets and enjoy new granit/marble counter top witch will cost you maybe $300-400 with new sink.
