This article will teach you how to fair well in tournament no limit holdem.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • chips
  • cards
  • cash
  1. Step 1

When you play tournament no limit Texas Holdem the object is to hold all the chips when the tournament is over. I will explain a step by step system to help you suceed at this.

  2. Step 2

When you start out everyone has the same amount of chips. The trick is tobuild your stack up early and often. Lets say you have 6 people at each table. you have small blind big blind then position 1,2,3 and dealer.

  3. Step 3

Dealer is the power position because you are last to act after the flop. This is how I play. 1st position I only call if I have a pair of 10's or better or an A,10 suited. Same with position 2. Position 3 can be a little more loose, calling any pair and 10,J suited or better. The dealer gives you the most option to play. I will typically play 8,9 suited or better. If everyone folds around to me as the dealer I will raise twice the big blind with a K,9 or higher.

  4. Step 4

The key to Texas Holdem is being in position. Once the flop comes if you got a piece of the action ex a pair, flush draw or straight draw then you can make a bet atleast 1.5x the big blind. the only time I make a bluff bet is if I am in last position to bet and everyone else has checked.

  5. Step 5

Sometimes if I flop 2 pair or a set or a big pair and there is a possible straight or flush I will put a small wager out to see if someone comes over the top with a raise. They might raise you out of the hand but if they raise over the top it will tell you they have something and keep them from slow playing.

  6. Step 6

I find that most of the time playing with amatures that if I make a bet they are not patient enough to just call and slow play me with a big hand. They will panic or get excited and reraise enough to let you know they got something good.

  7. Step 7

Tournament holdem is alot different then cash holdem. Like I said you have to be patient and wait for a hand you cant keep calling anything because you will run outm of chips. So wait for position with a good hand to call and steady raise your chip count for the final table!!

Tips & Warnings
  • play when you are in position
  • only call decent hands do not get bored and just start calling
  • be patient sometimes its better to slow play , you might get lucky and they grap a peice of the action while your sitting on the nuts!!
  • if you lose a couple hands with bad beats do not go on tilt!! YOU WILL LOSE!
