Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Generally the average resume should go back ten years or the past three jobs. Employment experience you have had over 15 years ago is probably not wise to use in a resume. If you would like the employer to know of a certain job in your distant past you can always bring it up in a interview.
Step2
If you feel you must list a job you had 10 jobs previous, mention it in a separate headline under a title such as skills. This way you will not have to list every job in between.
Step3
When listing non-relevant jobs over 5 years ago, it is best to be brief in order to use the space for more valuable information.
Step4
It is usually considered to be acceptable to leave out jobs you had while attending school that you do not wish to disclose. You may want to do this if you were fired or the job is viewed in a negative light in the position you are seeking. However, if you are asked directly about such job timeline it is advised to be direct about your previous job history.
