Sprinkler systems are common outdoor accessories for homes and businesses. These systems usually have one purpose, irrigation. Read on to learn the correct steps for installing a sprinkler system.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PVC or poly pipe
  • cutters
  • saw
  • insert Ts
  • combination elbow
  • combination T
  • 90s
  • flags
  • markers
  • double check
  • valves
  • manifold T
  • hose clamps or oteikers
  • trencher or pipe puller
  • shovels
  • sprinkler heads
  • swing pipe
  • 3/4 or 1/2 inch barbs
  1. Step 1

    Find the water source. Mark and flag area where the sprinkler system will be installed.

  2. Step 2

    Use the trencher to dig into the ground. Lay the pipe into the trenches.

  3. Step 3

    Hook the manifold and double check to the water source. Then hook up the valves to the double check.

  4. Step 4

    Turn the water on at the water source. This will blow any dirt or rock out of the pipe.

  5. Step 5

    Hook up the swing pipe to the fittings using the barbs. Put the sprinkler heads on.

  6. Step 6

    Backfill the area.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to keep the rotors and the spray heads on different lines.
  • Be sure to hook the fittings correctly to the pipe.
  • Be sure to test the system.
