How to write your mothers obituary

writing your mothers obit will give you and the family a chance to see all the accomplishments in her lifetime, many family members overlook somethings mothers do.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • paper, pen/pencil, other family members to add information in the obit

Step1
First: name, photo, age, birthday, date mother passed families put reason for death, you decide yea/nay where mother lived, her parents name, also adding a maiden name, date mother was married and how long, school information, college information, additional information of courses mother took to accomplish her career, list places of employment/military information
Step2
List all children's names with their spouses names,specify who is son/daughter, then list grandchildren, great-grand children, sisters/brothers, also their spouses specifing who is brother/sisters, niece's and nephews, have other family there to help so no-one gets left out and have to print any additional members of family
Step3
List all visitation hours, location, dates, Lists if any donations instead of flowers, list location of funeral date and time, where the actual burial will be, also where everyone will meet after burial, List any thank-you's to doctors, ministers, nurses, whoever may have been an impact on the family as the sickness progressed.

Tips & Warnings

  • some parents have already wrote out their obituaries prior to death along with their will.
  • check and double check the spelling and ages of members of the family some enter the ages also some don't

on 4/7/2008 Good Idea for an Article! I wrote my Father's Obituary over a year ago and remember well the info you have in your list! The overall best scenario is get everybody together (as one can) and brain storm, ideas words, thoughts and proceedings of the funeral as well. Some or all of this might be prearranged. But without a doubt.. Somewone will have to be the go to person! If it's you and you have gathered this information, the drudgery of this moment is lessened by having been prepared the best you able to be.. Bailey!
