How to oil trumpet valves

Learn how to properly oil your trumpet valves to prevent sticking and damage.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Trumpet
• valve oil

1. Turn trumpet upside-down.
2. Remove caps from the bottom of the trumpets valves.
3. Place six drops of oil on the inside wall of each valve.
4. Replace the caps.

Tips & Warnings

• Oil your trumpet valves before every time you play.
• Clean all oil from valves before storage.
• Do not use olive/vegetable oil or petroleum jelly.
