Things You'll Need:
- Bottle of Febreeze
- Candles
- Something to dust with
- Optional: Air Purifier
- Optional: Replacement filters for built in filters in your home
-
Step 1
Open your windows and air out your house as often and as long as can. This can be as little as 30 minutes to an hour a day or all day long during Spring. Letting fresh air in will keep the air from smelling stale.
-
Step 2
Febreeze your fabric furniture and rugs as little as once a week to once a day. This keeps fabrics from smelling musty, stale or like pet odor. Spray couches, chairs, rugs, carpet, comforters, curtains and etc.
-
Step 3
Dust on a somewhat regular basis. As much as once a day to just a couple times a week. This will keep your home from smelling dusty because the dust wont build up on furniture or in the air.
-
Step 4
Light scented candles through out your home. Use pleasant and light scents. Don't leave them burning all day and make sure all of your scents coordinate together.
-
Step 5
If your home has built in central air, then you probably have air filters in your home. These filters should be replaced several times a year for you to get the most of them. Filters are cheap and easy to replace. Simply read the size on the filter and visit your local home and garden store.
-
Step 6
You can also purchase a stand alone air purifier. There are many sizes and prices. Prices can range from $30 to $300. They come in all sorts of sizes. This is optional.

on 10/10/2008 Great tips. I have one too: try putting some concentrated perfumed oil on your vacuum bag. The smell circulates through your home while you clean. Jasmine or rose oil works great.
