Step 1
Use your air conditioning system. Opening windows in the spring can bring in outdoor allergens such as pollen and mold. The air conditioner can cycle fresh air throughout your home and filter out irritants. Pollen counts are at their highest from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., so if you want outdoor-fresh air, then open your windows in the early morning or evening time.

Step 2
Try an air purifier. A single unit can clean the air in one or more rooms inside your home. Air purifiers are designed to control pollen, dust mites and other allergens from entering inside the home.

Step 3
When you are engaging in your spring-cleaning ritual, do not forget to clean the air vents in your home. Dust and grime can build up over the winter and aggravate your spring allergies. Remember to also clean the top of bookcases, door frames, ceiling fan blades and other places in the home where dust can collect.

Step 4
Change your normal routine. If you normally shower in the morning, plan your shower before bed time. During the day, pollen can collect on your clothes, skin, or hair, and it will aggravate your allergies.
