Bread Pudding, can be made in many different variations and textures. If you come from Europe is usually has fruit in it. If you come from the Caribbean it's usually made with coconut milk. The south usually makes it with a liquor and has a sauce. I learned this recipe from my mother and it is both easy to make and wonderful to eat.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 lb day old cuban bread or (1 loaf of white bread
  • 3 1/2 cups of milk
  • 1 1/4 cups of sugar (brown sugar can be used)
  • 3 eggs mixed until yolk and white are incorporated
  • 1/4 tspn of salt
  • 1 tspn of cinnamin powder
  • 2 tspns of vanilla
  • 2 oz (4 tblspns) of melted butter
  • 1/2 cup raisins (soaked in dark run)

Step1
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Grease 9 x 13 rectangular pan

Cut and soak bread in milk. Mash with a fork until all in broken down. Melt butter and add to milk and bread mixture.
Step2
Stir in the sugar, salt, vanilla cinnamon and the raisins soaked in rum. Add the eggs mix well and pour into prepared dish.
Step3
Bake for 1 1/4 hour, let cool in pan before refrigerating.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you notice bread pudding is browning to fast, turn temperature down to 350 degrees.
  • Give it the full time for cooking. Let cool in pan before cutting.
