Blogging is fun, adventurous and all the rage. You can write about anything and everything you want in regards to blog. I have seen blogs about people's pets to the upcoming presidential electrion and everything in between. But if you are new and I mean really new to blogging, how do you get started? Hopefully this Hot-To article gets you going.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer with an internet connection
  1. Step 1

The first step is to have a valid email account. You will register a blog in your email address. Since the registration process will email to you a verification link, meaning you will need to click on it to verify that the email address you supply is valid, the address you supply must be your own.

  2. Step 2

There are a variety of free blog sites out there I prefer Blogger.com which is owned by Google. You could use WordPress, LiveJournal or even blog on your MySpace or Facebook account. Whichever you prefer is fine, but for this how-to I am using Blogger. Since Blogger is owned by Google, you need to create a Google account. Visit Google.com, and click "Sign In" located at the top right corner of the page. This will take you to a screen where you can register your email address.

  3. Step 3

Click the link "create one for free".

  4. Step 4

Fill out the information being requested and click the "I accept. Create My Account Button."

  5. Step 5

You will see a message telling you that you will be receiving a verification email. When you receive that email click the link they provide. You Google account is now active.

  6. Step 6

Visit Blogger.com and enter the email address and password you just used above to create your Google account.

  7. Step 7

After you log in Blogger will step you through the creation process. The first part is to enter a display name. This is the name that your visitors will see. You can call it anything you like, but keep it clean and make sure it is readable. Click the "terms" checkbox, then click continue.

  8. Step 8

Click the "Create Your Blog Now"

  9. Step 9

Give your blog a title and a url address. Your URL address is the web address by which you can view the blog without having to log in to blogger. You can also send this address to friends and family and they can view your blog as well. Once the information is filled in, click continue.

  10. Step 10

Choose a template. This is how your blog will appear. You will be able to change this later at anytime if you end up not liking it. For now choose one that best fits what you are writing about, then click continue.

  11. Step 11

Congrats! You just created your blog. Click start blogging to go to making your first post.

  12. Step 12

You are at the screen where all blogging is possible. All you need to do is write something and click "publish post". Once you do that you are officially apart of the blogging world. Congrats! and Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make your blog fun, interesting, educational and enjoyable and it is sure to be a hit
  • Be careful as to what you write in your blog. Although you are allowed to blast your boss or co-workers, it is best not to do that as it might get you in trouble.
