How to Green Clean Your Dishes

With the wave of "going green", people are finally realizing the dangers of all the chemicals and toxins that we use to clean our dishes. You don't have to though. There are plenty of ways to make our own dish soap that is safe for the environment and our families.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • liquid castile soap
  • lemon essential oil
  • lime essential oil
  • sweet orange essential oil
  • lavender essential oil
  • bergamot essential oil
  • rosemary essential oil
  • eucalyptus essential oil
  • citrus seed extract
  • 22 oz. clean, plastic squirt bottle
  1. Step 1

    Fill a 22 oz. clean, plastic squirt bottle with castile soap. If you are using concentrate, you will need to dilute it according to the directions.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the essential oils you would like to use. If you want it to be sweet smelling, add 20 drops of lime, 10 drops of sweet orange and 5 drops of citrus seed extract. For a fruity scent add 15 drops of lemon, 6 drops of lavender and 5 drops of bergamot. If you would like a more herbal blend, add 10 drops of lavender, 8 drops of rosemary and 4 drops of eucalyptus.

  3. Step 3

    Shake well before each use and add 1 to 2 tablespoons to your dishwater and wash.

Tips & Warnings
  • For extremely greasy dishes, add 1/2 cup vinegar or lemon juice to the dishwater.
