Networking is all about building relationships and connecting with others. The more connected you are in your field the more you will know about new companies and job opportunities in your field. As you connect with others and become networked in your field you will become more of value to an employer. Here is simple and proven ways on how to network.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Determination.
  1. Step 1

Know your niche in the field you want to work for. You will have seconds to make an impression on others, you do not want to do this by looking wishy washy.

  2. Step 2

Look at networking as a long term project, not something you can do over night. If you try to meet and be best buddies with everyone in one night you will not get very far.

  3. Step 3

Don't forget the people you meet. If you are unable to get a business card from them, write down their names and business information as soon as possible. This may not be appropriate to do in front of them. Make an effort to say in touch with them through occasional contacts such as e-mails and holiday cards.

  4. Step 4

Don't take more help then you can give. Offer assistance to anyone that you can help with the contacts you already have. I you appear to be their to only benefit yourself you will not have as goo

  5. Step 5

Remember a thank you can make all the difference. If someone went out of their way to help you, send them a simple but thoughtful thank you card or email.
