A temporary job is a great way to get your foot in the door or get the experience you need. This will also give you an idea if you want to work for the company you do temporary work for. Getting a temporary job tends to be easier to get then a full time job, so use this to your advantage if you are needing a paycheck immediately. Enrolling in a Temp Agency is usually the best way to find temporary employment.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Determination.

Step1
Research the temporary agencies that are available in your area. Ask friends and family for any recommendations. Do not be afraid to call or stop by the agencies individually to ask any questions you may have.
Step2
Depending on the agencies policies it may be okay to work with more then one agency at once. Make sure the Agency or Agencies you choose are competitive in the field you wish to find employment in. However, you will need to make it clear that once you choose a job you will not leave it because another agency has a different job for you. If you do not do this they will not take you seriously and not give you placement.
Step3
When in enrolling in the Employment Agencies make sure you dress as if you were going to an interview and act as such. Remember they when they send you out for the job, they are saying that you are the best placement they have for that position. So you want them to think very highly of you. If you are not honest with the agency they will find out and you will not get placed. Most agencies do extensive background and employment checks before sending an individual out for a job.
Step4
During your interview ask questions and do not be shy. Try you best on all tests they give you. If you do not feel that you did you best on a performance test ask if it is within policy for you to reduce it.
Step5
When you are sent to a placement act as if the job is not temporary. Put you all into the position and do not give any less. Do not feel bad that other employee are not being overly friendly. Until you are offered a real position or you prove yourself to them you will be just a temp. But do not give up this is normal.
Step6
Sending your employment agent a personal thank you card after your first interview with them and after your first placement is highly recommended. If you get a full placement from the business the sent you to work for a temporary placement be sure to send a note to them expressing your success.
Step7
Continue searching for full time employment while you are working. Make sure if you find a position that you give your temporary position a two weeks notice as if you would with any other position.
