Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Gas grill
- parchment paper
- 2 pizza pans
- pizza dough
- extra virgin olive oil
- pizza sauce
- mozzerella cheese, shredded
- romano or parmesan cheese, grated
- various toppings, such as pepperoni, olives, artichoke hearts, slivered ham, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes
Step1
Turn on 2 burners of gas grill and heat until grill registers 500 degrees.
Have all ingredients, except the dough, ready near the grill.
Step2
Roll out pizza dough to fit 12 inch pizza pan. Cover pan with sheet of parchment paper.
Lay pizza dough on parchment covered pan. Brush lightly with olive oil. You can bake at least 2 pizzas at a time.
Step3
Transfer dough to grill over direct heat (where burners are on) by picking up parchment paper and flipping the dough directly onto the grill, ending with the parchment side up. Peel parchment away (you can reuse it). Brush this side of dough with olive oil and grill for 2 minutes. It will puff up and bake on underside. It will then be rigid enough to flip.
Step4
With long tongs, flip the pizza dough on it's other side, to the side of the grill where the burners are NOT on (indirect heat) and quickly add sauce, cheeses, and other desired toppings.
Step5
Close lid of gas grill for about 4 to 7 minutes, checking often to see if cheese has melted and crust is crisp.
Remove from grill, let cool for a few minutes, slice and enjoy!
