We need internet just like we need water everyday. However, surfing on internet can be potentially risky since the whole environment is full of virus, worms, attacks and fake web sites, which may result in severe damages. To prevent this, we need safe web browser, antivirus and anti spyware programs.

1. FireFox 2 Currently, there are many web browsers for us to choose. Including FireFox, IE, Safari, Opera...etc. Unlike IE, the most popular attack target to date, other browsers like FireFox and Safari are more secure than IE. Not only that, those browsers uses less memories (RAM) and open webs faster than IE.
   FireFox, for example, even blocks annoying pop-ups and has Phishing Protection feature, which can prevent you from identity theft.
   
   So, why still stick with IE ?
2. Avast home edition Now you have a better/safer web browser. What you need next is a good antivirus program, especially with high reputations.

   Avira AntiVir personal and Avast antivirus home editions are two free and top-ranked antivirus programs. They not only prevent virus infection, also detect/eliminate worms and Trojans.

3. So far, you have safe web browser and robust antivirus program. It may enough to protect you. If you want to strengthen the protection, try to get an anti-spyware program plus a fire wall program. However, these softwares sometimes can slow down the system/internet speed.
