How to Get Rid of Dog Urine Spots on Your Lawn

Dog urine contains a high percentage of nitrogen, which will burn the grass and create brown spots on your lawn. Here are some ways to treat the spots and alternatives to keep your pet from ruining your lawn.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Water the area heavily any time up to eight hours after your pet urinates. This will help dilute the nitrogen and help prevent the brown spots. Re-sod any heavily damages areas.

  2. Step 2

Don't attempt to feed your pet anything to change the acidity of the urine. Since it's the nitrogen, not the acidity, doing the damage, these strategies won't work. Many of these substances can even harm your pets health.

  3. Step 3

Train your pet to relieve himself in a specific place. Lay gravel and install a marking spot, such as a birdbath. The gravel will help to keep that area attractive without brown rings.
