Music is a part of almost every single person’s life. It’s fun and it takes skill to create, making it a very good hobby to take up. A lot of musicians have found ways to earn money from their talent. This is something that any aspiring musician could do if they give it the time and patience it takes. Below are some of the ways to write music for profit.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Be skilled and stay sharp. The first thing you should do is make sure that your musicianship is at a skilled level. It will be much harder finding ways to profit from your talent if it isn’t honed and practiced well enough. Make sure to regularly practice in order to stay sharp and be ready to take on any sort of offer you’re given to profit in music.
Step2
Make some samples of your work that you have recorded to have something to show any prospective employers. You can do this in a few different ways. You could go to a studio and record your work there, or you could play a show at a venue that has recording equipment used for recording live situations. Whichever route you take, be sure to get as good quality recordings as you can. This will look more professional when it comes time to show your work to someone.
Step3
Tryout to become a member of a band or solo artist for a bar or club. You will be able to write music for profit doing this. House bands and artists receive pay for playing a set number of shows per month. This is a good option if you’d like to be in a social environment and work with other people to make music or do covers. Just let the owner or booking agent of the club hear your samples and that will be a deciding factor in whether or not they are going to hire you.
Step4
Become a session musician. Plenty of recording studios find themselves in situations where a client recording at their studio is in need of other musicians in order to help fill the gaps in the recordings. If you’re hired as a session musician, your job will be to learn what the artist asks you to and record the part given to you. This is a good choice if you want to work with a variety of different musical styles as they will change depending on who the client is.
Step5
Record musical scores for aspiring film students. They are often in need of original music to play throughout parts of their movies in order to help express the vibe. If you choose this option, your job will be to create a sonic environment that blends well with whatever scene you’re writing it for. Advertise on classified sites on the Internet.
