Step1
Adjust your attitude. You've decided to lose weight, now you have to change your way of thinking. You have to believe in yourself. Self-doubt will cause failure. Picture yourself at your goal weight. Set your goals in manageable steps, 5 pounds or so, and focus on that step rather than get discouraged by the enormity of your long-term goal.
Step2
Renovate your kitchen. Not HOME MAKEOVER style, just get the bad, off-limits foods out of your kitchen and stock your pantry with healthy choices.
Step3
Make some friends. Find people to lose weight with you. Join Weight Watchers of create your own weight loss club at work to offer support and encouragement to each other.
Step4
Move more. Increase your activity level to increase your metabolism. Park at the back of the parking lot, take the stairs, anything to make you move more.
Step5
Hold yourself accountable. Maybe it was just a bite, but 5,6,7 of those bites add up. Be honest with yourself about your diet and exercise. Weigh yourself regularly, and keep up with EVERY bite you eat cause EVERY bite counts.
Step6
Cook your food. Cut down on high calorie and fix your food at home. Pack your lunches to make sure you get the quality and quantity of food you need to maintain your eating plan.
Step7
Drink like a fish. Eight glasses of water a day should be a minimum, mot a goal. Add K2O to your water (from the makers of Special K cereal) for the flavor and the added benefits of the protein and fiber to help create a sense of fullness between meals.
Step8
Create new habits. Make exercise a habit. Make healthy diet choices a habit. Make your new lifestyle a habit. This helps to make these changes permanent and prevents yo-yo dieting.
Step9
Schedule exercise. Make an appointment for it. Reward yourself for doing it. Whatever it takes to make you commit to exercising routinely, just do it.
Step10
Keep at it. One set back is no reason to throw in the towel. Pick yourself up and keep going. Take it one day at a time, one step at a time and you'll see results.
