Do you find yourself not getting exercise because you find it too hard or too time-consuming to go or get a membership to a gym? Do you know that you can get exercise from everyday activities.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • creativity
  • a little spare time

Step1
Get a stability ball. These balls can be purchased at places like WalMart. They generally cost between $10-$20 each. They may even come with a DVD, poster, and pump to blow it up. The DVD gives basic exercises that can be done while watching TV. You can even use them in place of your office chair to build muscle.
Step2
Gather clothes and towels around your house - make it a semi-aerobic activity...maybe even a game. Perhaps move to music. I find that putting a way clothes can take on a whole new outlook when you make it entertaining....you may not want to let your neighbors see you turning your home into a dance or kareoke studio while folding clothes... :)
Step3
Join a trail run group. This can be a way to get exercise AND meet new people who share your same interests. There are marathon groups, trail running teams, and biking teams that you could join. Consider searching for these on the internet or local paper.
Step4
You could always try to walk or run faster when walking your dog. If you are like me, you have a BIG dog...sometimes they too can be a motivator!
Step5
Join an athletic team. Sometimes certain neighborhoods have organized leagues for which you may join....join with a friend, spouse, or family!
Step6
Get a pedometer. These can be purchased at a nearby sports store or drug store. They track your steps and can be a motivator too! Traditionally, I think it is a good day if I have walked 10,000 steps in a 24-hour period.
Step7
Get 8 hours of sleep, this coupled with exercise will give great benefits! Yes, you can burn calories while you sleep. Exercise is valuable to your overall health - don't forget about its importance!!

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't have to spend alot of money to be fit!
  • Watch what you eat while you exercise!
  • Track your energy levels after you start to exercise!
  • Only exercise to your ability - stretch your limits - but exercise at your own risk...when possible, exercise with a partner!!
