Children's Benadryl(make sure pediatrician tells you how much to give your baby)
Step1
First, give your baby a bath using Dove soap on body and TGEL shampoo on head. Make sure you keep these soaps out of eyes because they are not specifically designed for babies and children.
Step2
After bathing and replacing diaper, apply a prescription or hydrocortizone cream to trouble spots. Use the prescription ointment as directed. Use hydrocortizone 3-4 times a day.
Step3
Apply Aquaphor lotion to entire body. This can be found at any Walgreens or Wal-Mart. It is a white tub with a blue lid.
Step4
If at bedtime, give your child benadryl as needed. If your child wiggles and finds things to scratch his body on, he probably needs this to sleep without itching the whole night.
Tips & Warnings
Side note: My child is five months and I give him 1/2 a teaspoon of Children's Benadryl at bedtime as needed.
At times other than bathtime, apply the hydrocortizone/prescription and Aquaphor as needed.
Make sure to use Aquaphor after a bath, it keep skin soft and moisturized.
If your baby doesn't get a diaper rash after eating, it is probably not an allergic reaction to food.
Don't be alarmed if this rash oozes. It does that sometimes, just apply creams/ointments and call doctor if neccessary.
They will usually just grow out of this phase.
Use unscented laundry soaps and NO DRYER SHEETS!
Always consult a doctor before giving your baby/newborn any new medicines.
Call your Pediatrician if this gets worse without getting better first. You may need a dermatologist
