Have you ever had an idea for a comic strip, with cool characters and stories? It's not that hard, with an imagination and the right materials.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencils
  • Paper
  • Your Imagination
  1. Step 1

Read, read, read! Everyone has a favorite comic strip. Look at your favorites. What makes them funny? Why are they your favorites?

  2. Step 2

Draw with your own style. Everyone has a drawing style which they are comfortable with. Practice drawing until you learn to develop a unique way of sketching.

  3. Step 3

Invent characters. Here is where your imagination jumps in. Be wild and crazy. They can be animals, humans, plants, anything! maybe even something you invented yourself. Make sure to have a strong personality for each of them. What do they want most in life? What are their weaknesses?

  4. Step 4

Use your writing skills to come up with a story line and some jokes. Remember, most of the best comic strips aren't the most best art, but have funny jokes.

  5. Step 5

File all your ideas. Little drawings, notes, unfinished comics, and sketches, have a place for all of them. Even if you probably won't use them, you just might someday think of the winning punch line for a drawing you thought you'd never use.

  6. Step 6

Draw all the time! Keep building on your characters and stories to create new ones.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ever get writers block? Don't panic. Several ways to get out are: Put your characters in a new place, maybe somewhere they've never been to. Maybe invent a whole new character. Sometimes you can just sit and scribble down jokes from your head, and something will hopefully come up.
