Showing a child that you care can make a difference in their future. Try these simple steps to show a child they are special. Also, check out my other articles for more tips on showing your child you care!
Notice Them. Nothing tells a child that they are special more than simply taking the time to notice them. We are all busy and sometimes we forget to stop and show others we care about them.
Step2
Remember Their Birthdays. Some of us remember dates easier than others. If you are bad with dates, as I am, set aside some time to document birthdays and other special days on a calendar. Remembering a birthday, shows a child they are important to us.
Step3
Ask Them Questions: When you take the time to talk to a child, you will learn more about them. Not only will that build your relationship, but it also helps the child learn to communicate their thoughts and feelings. Communicating thoughts and feelings encourages emotional development.
Step4
Play a Game: Many children today spend too much time watching television. Games are a great way to interact with your child, develop skills, and show them you care.
Step5
Read a Book: Reading to a child promotes bonding, develops listening and language skills, and gives a child a strong foundation for education. It also shows a child they are special to you.
Step6
Look at Them: Looking someone in the eye shows them that you are actively and honestly interacting with them. Also, spending time at eye level with you child allows them to observe communication observe and absorb language skills.
Step7
Learn about Them: Noticing things about a child can also show them that they are special. Take the time to listen to them. Remember their interests, their likes and their dislikes. You can use your knowledge to plan activities to show them they are special to you.

Excellent advice. I always listened to my kids (even when I wasn't actually paying attention). This is vital for them. Too many children feel shunted about like so much baggage. A great article. J
