How to build an effortless and chic core wardrobe.

Looking effortless and chic can be very easy. There are a few elements you need to incorporate into your wardrobe to create effortless style. A few basic key pieces (not sunglasses or red lipstick)that you will wear for years to come. These pieces will become your investment pieces and you will wear them over and over again. The key here is fit and quality!

• A trench
• A Suit (well fitted)
• A shirt
• Black skirt (be imaginative)
• Taupe or brown pants
• A great handbag
• Basc crew neck top (in black,white,red or your reference in colors)
• Boots
• Pumps
• Diamond studs (or CZ)
• Diamond pendant necklace (CZ)
• A great ring
• Sweater
• V neck Tee
• Leather belt
• Accessories

1. First and foremost, great underwear, not good underwear! Invest in a solid big girl bra. A bad bra will ruin any outfit. No strapless, whimsy feminine stuff for daytime. Remember the nipples must be at the halfway point between the shoulder and elbow. The ideal bra should push everything forward not flatten or spread it out to the sides.
2. The fit and quality of any of your clothing items is crucial. You can go to any consignment store to find a great suit. Then head off to a tailor(every woman over the age of 40 must have the phone number of a good seamstress. Fabrics to look for are garbadine,worsted wool,sharkskin,cashmere if you can (Pass on linen for now until you start to build on your wardrobe)
   Even a cheap suit can look absolutely fantastic when altered to fit.
   Wear this suit seperately or together, with the tees or blouses. Pair the jacket with jeans, the pants with a jean jacket.The pants with a tee and a trench.The combinations are endless.
3. A trench coat works as an eternal cover up. Even when you look less than stellar underneath, a good trench makes you look ike you know what you are doing.Pair this with your dress,your skirt,pants,jeans - you see where I am going with this??
   Your black dress need only be updated with accessories. The dress can be paired with flipflops, high slippers or pumps depending on the occassion. Your accessories should and must reflect whom you are. If you like them bold and chunky - express yourself. If you are a pearl gal, have fun. Accessories can be purchased inexpensively and will make your outfit. Have fun with your wardrobe and dont be afraid to experiment. Grab your bag and heels,sunglasses and red lips:) and off you go!
