If you find yourself having to become a caregiver for the bedridden man in your life, then chances are you may need to give him a shave every now and then. For most men who are accustomed to being clean-shaven, budding stubble is uncomfortable and itchy. The steps below will show you how to shave a man's face with an electric shaver.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 clean towels
  • Disposable gloves
  • Pre-shave ointment
  • Electric shaver
  • Rubbing alcohol or after shave
  • Small brush
  • Lamp (optional)
  1. Step 1

Help the man get to an upright position by raising the head of the bead or putting some pillows behind him. This position is more conducive to a successful shave.

  2. Step 2

Place a towel over his chest and tuck it beneath his chin.

  3. Step 3

Plug the shaver into the nearest outlet and put some disposable gloves on your hands.

  4. Step 4

Rub the pre-shave ointment onto the man's face.

  5. Step 5

    Turn on the electric shaver.

  6. Step 6

Shave the man's face beginning with one side of the face and working to the other until it appears smooth and feels smooth to the touch. If possible, ask the man if the shave feels OK to him.

  7. Step 7

Rinse the man's face with a slightly wet towel. Be sure to rub gently as a man's face is quite sensitive after a shave. This helps remove remnants of the pre-shave ointment.

  8. Step 8

Put rubbing alcohol or after shave lotion on the face to prevent infection.

  9. Step 9

Clean the shaver with a small brush (usually included with most electric shavers) and store it away along with the other items.

Tips & Warnings
  • Place a lamp near the bed if the room is not well lit so you can see clearly as you shave the man. Just be sure you don't shine the light directly into his eyes.
  • Don't use a wet towel on the man's face prior to the shave.
  • Don't use shaving cream. Use only an ointment designed especially for electric shavers.
  • Avoid using razors as they pose a greater risk for nicking or cutting the man's face.
