Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Turn off your monitor or set the background color to black so you can easily identify spots that need to be removed.

  2. Step 2

Apply the distilled water to your clean, soft cloth.

  3. Step 3

Wipe your LCD screen in smooth motions from left to right, going from the top of the screen to the bottom.

  4. Step 4

Let the screen air dry or simply run a dry area of the cloth over the screen again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Old t-shirts and handkerchiefs work well as a soft cloth. Otherwise, you can purchase a microfiber cloth if you don't already have one. These tend to be the softest.
  • If you want to shell out a few bucks, the you can purchase a specially-formulated solution to clean your LCD screen. Just be sure it has deionized or distilled water as it's main ingredient.
  • Never clean your LCD screen with tap water. Some of the substances found in tap water can be extremely harmful to your screen.
  • Avoid using alcohol, acid-based liquids or any other corrosive substance to clean your screen.
  • Don't attempt to clean your screen with napkins, facial tissue or paper towels. These items are too abrasive and may leave permanent scratches on your screen.
  • Never apply liquid directly to your LCD screen.
  • Make sure your LCD screen has completely dried before you try to use your PC or close your laptop.
