How to Pack Pictures for Moving Companies

Moving across town, across the country or across the world can be both exciting and stressful. You may experience additional stress if you're using a moving company and you have some fragile pictures you want to keep intact. You don't have to subject your valuables to unnecessary punishment, though. Here are a few steps you can take to effectively pack your pictures for moving companies without sustaining any damage.

Things You’ll Need:

• Box or carton for packing pictures
• Wrapping paper
• Clear tape

1. Call your moving company ahead of time to see if they have any special cartons or boxes specifically designed for packing mirrors and pictures. If you are renting a truck to move yourself, then most companies will have these items so this step shouldn't be a problem.
2. Open the the carton at both ends to be sure it is longer than the pictures you need to pack.
3. Get your wrapping paper and place each picture face down. Wrap each picture much like you would a gift. Be sure to cover each picture completely and leave some slack on each side.
4. Seal the carton completely with the exception of on opening.
5. Slide your picture into the remaining opening and seal the entire box.

• Research government regulations on what legally makes up an item of substantial value. The majority of moving companies in the nation will consider pictures worth more than one hundred dollars to be of exceptional worth.
• Even if you hire a professional moving company, they may not treat your valuables with the same care that you do. If possible, transport pictures and other items of value yourself in your own vehicle or luggage.
