Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Determination
  • A passion for science fiction

Step1
Read, Read, Read. You must be an avid science-fiction reader in order to write good scifi stories. Look at the stories you like and the stories you don't. What about how they were written made you like them?
Step2
Write! Write as much as can about everything you can think about. A popular saying among authors is that you must write 1,000,000 words before you can find your voice. It will take time to learn how to write stories that are both unique and exciting.
Step3
Get feedback. When you think you've written something good, show it to people. It's especially helpful to find people who have writing experience. Get a consensus for what other people think of your stories.
Step4
Edit. Even the greatest authors have to edit their work. Save what you write, don't look at it for a week and then edit it. Edit out useless fluff, and try to make your writing as precise and beautiful as possible.
Step5
Submit your work. There are many magazines that will publish short science fiction stories and chapters from novels. Submit your work to as many of these publishers as possible, and don't get upset about being rejected. Some of the greatest science fiction authors alive were not able to publish there work for years.
