So you have your wall setup, but don't have any routes? Try this

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Several rolls of different colored tape
  • Friend to do the taping
  1. Step 1

Start by getting on the wall, and climbing along sideways. Bouldering usually takes place below 20 feet, so keep your highest handhold under 20 feet. For your first one, try to go straight sideways, using the easiest, largest hand and foot holds. Have your friend place a piece of colored tape over each hold that you use.

  2. Step 2

When you reach the end, climb back the opposite direction, using still using easy holds, but zig zagging up and down as you climb. Have your friend use a different color tape for this run.

  3. Step 3

Next repeat steps 1 and 2, but use increasingly harder holds with each run. Encorporate varying skill levels. Also, you can use the same holds for multiple runs. just put the tape right next to the others.

  4. Step 4

When people climb, they can just choose a color, and go!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to keep routes consistent. Don't start out easy, and get harder as the route goes.
  • Don't worry about if the routes are too easy or too hard. Just make some easy, even "too easy" and make some hard, even "insane" and let people choose what they want to do.
