The Internet has opened up a world of writing opportunities. From website content to e-zine articles, the Internet has changed the way we read and write. Learning to write for the Internet can help you become a published author.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Before you write the first word of your article, think about how someone looking for it would search. The words that are placed in search engines are called keywords, so think of the keywords for the title and body of your article.

  2. Step 2

Begin your article with an introduction. This paragraph, like most in an Internet article does not need to be more than three or four sentences.

  3. Step 3

Use bullets or lists in the body of the article to get your point across. Internet readers tend to like the simplicity of lists.

  4. Step 4

End your article with a summation of the points you have presented. Again, keep the paragraph short.

Tips & Warnings
  • Unlike magazine or newspaper articles, Internet articles tend to be short; usually less than 500 words. If your article is longer than that, look for ways to break it up into parts or a series.
  • White space in an article is good. Keep paragraphs short and lists concise.
  • Single space an Internet article except between paragraphs where you add an extra line. Don’t indent the beginning of the paragraph unless a specific publisher has requested this.
  • Always try to offer information in an article that is helpful to the reader.
  • Make sure to at least run the spelling and grammar checker in your word processor before you declare the article complete.
