April is Script Frenzy month. What is Script Frenzy? It is an online challenge to write a 100-word screenplay during the month of April. Since April has 30 days, the goal is to have a completed screenplay written and validated before April 30th. The key to winning the challenge is all in advance planning.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet
  • A Script Frenzy account
  • A script writing program or template
  1. Step 1

Sign up for an account at the Script Frenzy website (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

Download a copy of Celtx screenwriting software or use a search engine to find templates for your word processing program.

  3. Step 3

Begin writing down notes about characters, locations and story ideas as soon as possible. The more fully developed your ideas are for your screenplay, the better chance you have for success.

  4. Step 4

Write a minimum of four pages a day in April. If you can manage more, that will give you a buffer for those days that your muse takes a day off.

  5. Step 5

Upload your completed screenplay no later than April 30th to be validated. No one will read your script when you upload, the site only verifies that you have 100 pages or more.

  6. Step 6

Collect your certificate and other web goodies from the link provided when you get your winners confirmation. Print the certificate out and hang it on your wall.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more advance planning you do, the better your chances are. But as long as you meet the goal of 4 pages per day, you will win the challenge.
  • Turn off your internal editor and give yourself permission to write rubbish. The time to edit is after Script Frenzy is over. Worry about perfection in May when you begin the rewrite and polishing stage.
