How to Find Drivers for an IBM ThinkPad

Software and device drivers play an important role in the correct functioning of certain devices and programs with hardware such as the IBM ThinkPad laptops. Without the correct drivers for your ThinkPad, you'll usually find that certain software or devices simply won't work. By finding and downloading the right drivers for your ThinkPad, you'll be able to get these devices and programs working.

Instructions

1. Go to Support.Lenovo.com in your Web browser.

2. Click "Download Drivers & Software." Click the drop-down menu next to "Type" and select "Laptops and Netbooks." Click "Continue."

3. Click the drop-down menu next to "Series" and select the series of the ThinkPad that you have. Click "Continue." If you are unsure of what series your ThinkPad is from, look for the model number on the bottom of the ThinkPad.

4. Click the drop-down menu next to "Subseries" and select the subseries that represents your ThinkPad. Click "Continue."

5. Click the drop-down menu next to "Machine Type" and select the machine type that represents your ThinkPad. Click "Continue."

6. Click the drop-down menu next to "Model" and select the model of your ThinkPad. Click "Continue."

7. Click the drop-down menu next to "Operating System" and select your ThinkPad's operating system. Click "Continue" to find drivers for that particular IBM ThinkPad computer. The drivers can then be downloaded on the page that appears.
