When you are selecting a purse, the first decision is very subjective--meaning you are simply deciding on how it looks. There are no specifications for what a purse should look like; it is something that you need to decide for yourself. However, the way your purse looks should fit your preferences and style. You can choose based on design, prints, color or brand label with logo or lettering as part of the design.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The style of your purse is definitely another thing to be considered. Your personality is really what will tell you what style you should buy. It can be a handbag, which is a smaller style of purse that tends to be fairly delicate and you have to hold in your hands. There is the normal purse that you can keep on a strap hung from your shoulder that is popular. Some people like longer straps and some people prefer shorter ones. The last main style is actually a bag instead of a purse, though many people now use it in the same way. You can find very fashionable bags that you hang from your shoulder, which create a more laid-back kind of look.

  2. Step 2

After deciding what purse you want to buy, than you need to decide when you’re going to use it. The different kinds of people you hang out with will probably be the major influence on when you will use your purse. If you are hanging out with a group of girls who are more focused on shopping and who spend most of their time going to stores or staying inside, bringing your purse with you when you see them will be very appropriate and not considered “dorky.” If you are hanging out with people who are athletic and very fast-paced, you’ll be better off to leave your purse at home.

  3. Step 3

If you are hanging out with any crowd of people, there are always times you do need to bring your purse along. Purse usage is always acceptable when going shopping, whether it is by yourself, with a group of friends or with your parents. If you are going out to eat and are going to be paying for yourself, it would be a smart plan to bring your purse with you as well. If the other people you are going out with don’t have purses with them, it may be awkward, but it is easier to keep up with money, receipts and coupons when you have a purse. So go ahead and bring it along for convenience and as a fashion statement as well.
