How to Revive an Old Mattress

Not everyone wants to buy a new mattress - so how do you rejuvenate an old mattress and give it life again? Take an older piece of bedding and simply drape on top of your older mattress and place mattress pads or sheets on top of it.

Things You'll Need:

• An Old White Comforter (Down or Down Alternative)

1. Know the size of your bed? If you have a king mattress you will want to place a smaller size comforter on it. Many folks have a smaller comforter (make sure it's white so the color does not show through your sheets).

2. Next undo your bed so that your exposed mattress is left on your bed frame. Remove all comforters, sheets and mattress pads to have your clean slate.

3. Now take and place your smaller white comforter (can be a polyester or down comforter) on top of the mattress so that it is even on the bed. Then simply start adding back your bedding pieces such as a mattress pad then your fitted sheets, etc.

Tips & Warnings

• King size mattresses measure 78 x 80 - so a typical Full/Queen comforter which measures usually on the smaller side will do great (they typically are 86 x 86 to 88 x 88 or so). Likewise for queen mattresses you can likely use a full size comforter to lay on top of the queen mattress.
• Don't use a feather comforter - they have quills that could poke. However, you can use a polyester comforter or a down comforter for maximum luxury.
