on 11/1/2008 I, was under the impression, that the idea was to learn how to clean copper, any copper,I am not a coin collector but a coppersmith and am very aware that collectable coin's loose value when polished, so don't try this at home on a penny, try in on copper! see my guitars www.freewebs.com/copper22 comments welcome.

on 4/1/2008 As a collector I can't tell you the number of times I've seen people with rare coins they thought were in mint condition and worth hundreds of dollars only to be told the coin had been cleaned with vinegar or baking soda or salt and was now worth face value only.
DO NOT DO THIS for any coin you plan to collect and re-sell.
It does work really well for turning worthless coins into shiny objects for art or just to admire their beauty.
