Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- A spare room or large closet
- Shelves
- Plastic organizer drawers
- A table (
- (size appropriate for your room)
- A chair
- All your craft supplies
- Some time & money
Step1
This was my closet before the transformation.
Okay. So you need a space all your own to work on your craft project. I will show you an inexpensive way to get your own place. Check out the photo of my litte pride and joy that I created for myself out of a closet!
Step2
This is my craft room.
When I moved into my townhouse I had this extra closet that I did not need it for any extra storage. Moving from a small condo into a larger townhouse I did'nt have enough 'stuff' to fill my new home. First, I removed all of the shelving and old carpet from the closet. Next I spackled the holes and sanded them until they were smooth. Be sure to let the spackle dry for at least 24 hours before sanding.
Step3
Adding shelving and plastic drawers gives you a chance to be completely organized.
Now it is time to pick some paint colors or maybe just one color. Paint your space and let dry for anothe 24 hours. Be sure to tape any trim, electrical outlets, and light switches that may be in the closet or room.
Step4
Spice racks make a great organizer.
After you have finished painting and the paint has dried, find a table and chair that will fit in your space and fit your needs. Gather your craft items and determine what types of storage containers will fit and suit your needs. I used 20% off coupons from Bed, Bath and Beyond to purchase two magnatized spice racks that I screwed into the wall and put buttons and other embelishments in them. The clear window allows for easy viewing of what's inside.
Step5
When your room is complete be sure to personalize it to reflect who you are. Have fun with it. Add a radio or a portable DVD player and play your favorite movies whie you work.
