How to Install Microphones in a Professional Recording Studio

Studio microphones are specially designed for optimal audio pick-up. Studio quality microphones are a big investment and need to be fully integrated into the recording studio system. In addition, the microphone is the most important part of a recording studio, so select the best you can afford.

1. Select a special studio microphone. The microphone has to be able to capture the full dynamic range of the performer's voice.

2. Get several types of microphones for use in different situations. Condenser microphones and dynamic microphones have different capacities in a studio and during live performances.

3. Buy good headphones for recording. The headphones deliver the music directly to the performers without being picked up by the microphones. Using high quality headphones during recording prevents a bleed through of the music where it is picked up by the microphone. Bleed through creates problems later during the mixing.

4. Install "popper stoppers" on the microphone to prevent the popping of the words that start with P and the hissing of words that start with S. This is very useful for recording, especially for rappers, as the microphone magnify every sound.
