Step 1
Roll out the paraglider in an area with no wind. Spread out the glider completely and gently pull at the top middle portion of the paraglider to form the glider into a horseshoe shape.
-
Step 2
Find the risers (straps that connect the lines) and extend them completely. Pull each glider line out and observe that each line is attached to a carabiner which is securely attached to the harness. Inspect each line for defects and make sure each line is connected properly to the harness.
-
Step 3
Observe the entire glider while it is laid out on the ground. Carefully look for tears, snags or other imperfections that could jeopardize the safety of your flight.
-
Step 4
Check the remaining paragliding equipment for safety. Your harness should be free from defect and the harness lines should be secured to the harness with individual carabiners for each line. Your helmet should fit snugly and not be cracked. If you use radio equipment, ensure that you have working radios with clear communication. Check your reserve parachute to ensure it is without flaws.
