Where and how you stand during a game of paintball can be just as important as the accuracy of your aim. In some instances, such as attacks from far away, standing up is the best choice for shooting around obstacles. Here is how to use the stand-up shooting form in paintball.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by standing behind a bunker or some other item that will provide total coverage. If playing outdoors, a tree works quite well. You can stand facing the bunker or with your back to it, whichever you prefer.

  2. Step 2

Move out from behind the obstacle by placing one foot out to the left or right. If your back is facing the obstacle, you will have to turn around first. Do not jump out from behind the obstacle completely.

  3. Step 3

Put a slight bend in the knee.

  4. Step 4

Lean into the bent knee using about 80 percent of your body weight.

  5. Step 5

Aim your gun at this leaning position and fire at your intended target. While in this stance, the arms can be locked into a solid, accurate aiming position.

Tips & Warnings
  • This stance is preferred to simply leaning forward at the waist. This can strain the back and cause for very inaccurate shooting. With the stand-up form, the weight is supported by the legs and there is a solid stance for more accurate shots.
  • Remain as close to the barricade as possible when using the stand-up shooting form. The beauty of this stance is that you can be fully returned to a hiding position by simply standing straight up and reversing the lean.
