How to Add Whiskers to Halloween Cat Makeup

Dressing up like a cat for Halloween is popular with both kids and adults. Part of the allure is emulating such a cute, lovable creature without significant effort. Some paws, cat ears and a tail will do the trick. However, no cat costume is truly complete without a pair of whiskers. Fortunately, painting whiskers on your face is both fun and easy to do.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Facial soap
  • Towel
  • Face paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Eyeliner or eyebrow pencil
  • Powder
  • Wash and dry your face thoroughly before applying makeup.

  • Apply face paint in the cat design you like.

  • Paint the pads for the whiskers using an eyebrow pencil or eyeliner. Make small round dots on your upper lip below your nose. You only need 3 to 5 dots on each side. Press the end of your eyeliner or eyebrow pencil on to your skin and then rotate in a circle to make a perfectly round dot.

  • Draw on the whiskers by taking your eyebrow pencil or eyeliner and starting near the dots you just made, make quick even strokes across the face out towards your ears. Draw whiskers using black or brown colored makeup if you have light skin. For darker skin, use a yellow or silver color to make your whiskers.

  • Set your makeup by dusting your face with a coat of powder.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also use grease paint and a cotton swab instead of eyeliner.
  • Use a business card as a guide to help you keep the whisker lines straight.
