Rainbow friendship bracelets, also known as knot bracelets, are a fun way for friends or crafters to bond and create inexpensive, cute bracelets to share or sell at local crafter's markets. Knowing how to make these bracelets by closing off the knots is a simple process.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick the colors of DC thread you want to use. DC thread is the multiple strand thread used in cross-stitching. It can be purchased at any crafts or fabric stores. The traditional rainbow colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple (in that order). Depending on the wrist measurement, you need to measure and cut the threads to the desired length. For a child, it would be 24 inches per color.

  2. Step 2

Tie the threads together in a strong knot at the top. This will secure the colors together and make one end of the bracelet. Leave a little room for the threads at the top before the knot to have something to tie the finished bracelet together with. Secure the knot to a clip board by placing the knot under the clip. This will give the appropriate tension needed for the knotting, since you need to use both hands.

  3. Step 3

Start by laying all the colors out separately, in the order of the rainbow. This makes it easier to grab the ones you are working with. Starting on the left with the first two colors, take the second thread and wrap it around the first thread twice creating a double knot. Drag the knot to the top of the threads and tighten it.

  4. Step 4

Move to the next color and the second color and repeat the process. This process continues to the last color/thread. Start back at the beginning and repeat the process. Continue this until you have the desired amount of rows. Make sure you are getting each knot tight or the bracelet will not turn out right.
